I'm not sure what I expected but this was not it. I'm actually quite disappointed, and wish I hadn't read it. It was like The Contract never happened. Richard 1.0 was back. All his redeeming qualities gone.Besides the story being predictable at times, and way too sugary at the beginning, neither Richard nor Katy were very likable. I understand that horrific situations bring the best and worst out of people, but I still need to be able to relate and like those people. Unfortunately I had a hard time with both.It didn't help that I had high expectations, and as always that's never a good thing.Nevertheless the story became quite emotional at times, and the epilogue was rather sweet, but sadly, all of this wasn't enough to change the overall feel of the book for me. Sometimes it's better to leave things the way they were.
