Julie Zickefoose has a most unique way of sharing herself in each of her books. Saving Jemima is undoubtedly her best yet! Many of us Zick-fanatics were privileged to watch the story of Jemima online as it happened, and we got to watch as Julie raised it...and ultimately left Julie and us. I found myself checking several times every day to see if there was a Jemima update, and rejoiced in the times when Jemima came back to visit and eat from the smorgasbord that Julie had waiting just in case. And then finally, it was Jemima's time to leave, just as millions of birds do every year. Since then, I've never seen a blue jay without wondering if, perhaps, it just might be Jemima. If you loved Born Free, or Wesley the Owl, or followed the saga of Molly the Owl, this book is your next read--you will laugh, you will cry, and you will learn more about what a wildlife rehabilitator does that you could ever have imagined. And you will fall in love with Julie and her family. I can't recommend this book highly enough! You will want to order all of Julie's books after you've finished with Saving Jemima, and I recommend every single one!!
